Summary of Position with General Responsibilities
The Product Manager role will initiate and develop the strategic and tactical initiatives for a key market segment on a global basis for new product/products. This includes driving upstream user inputs, opportunity assessments and participation on product development teams, product launch, and downstream initiatives including building physician relationships and promotional activities. This position will also take an active role in preparing the bi-annual New Product Development (NPD) plans projecting the direction and growth of the market, sales revenues, product lines, expenses, and profit and loss along with their R&D counterparts and project tracking.
Essential Job Functions
Take an active role on product development teams as key participant from product infancy to launch; conducting in-depth market research plans required to collect the user needs and communicate to the team. Ability to translate those user needs to documents the team utilizes to document project development from the idea phase through the post-market phase.
Work with R&D to develop a strong portfolio of product development projects that support the strategic direction and grow the business.
Create training, sales tools and promotional advertisements for product launches.
Build relationships with and know key customers/distributors and major buying groups.
Communicate with domestic sales force and global marketing entities (directly and through international marketing).
Identify and communicate market trends to division management and internal team.
Assist in developing and implementing comprehensive product marketing plans including strategic and technical components.
Forecast sales volume, monthly and long-term (18 months).
Budget administration (promotional and expense).
Understand and manage profit and loss for assigned product line(s).
Identify and develop marketing programs, sales tools and promotions.
Assist in preparing strategic plans.
Recommend product line modifications, extensions, new products and product deletions.
Mentor and train Associate Product Managers on the project cycle.
Manage the MBA Internship program.
Build Physician and KOL relationships for both market research purposes and industry speaking engagements.
Be able to train Associate Product Managers on KOL and Physician contact protocols, market research organization with physicians and key customers.
Basic Qualifications Bachelors Degree 2. Minimum of five years sales/marketing experience in healthcare field. 3. Minimum of one year sales experience preferred. 4. MBA preferred, but not required. 5. Prior experience in healthcare communications, education and promotions. 6. Computer literate.Additional Desirable Qualifications Skills and Knowledge
Self-motivated and detail oriented with ability to work independently, team oriented and eager to mentor junior team members.
Strong interpersonal skills, customer focus, professionalism, and influencing in team building, along with presentation skills in front of an audience for training purposes and leading meetings.
Create launch, advertisements and training materials executing strategic messaging for launches to grow the business.
Must be able to prioritize and handle several projects concurrently.
Education and/or Experience
Bachelor's Degree required emphasis in Marketing or business preferred.
MBA or equivalent work experience.
Physical Demands
This position requires office work, non-manual related with an ability to focus on multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment.
Work Environment
This position requires a 40 hour work week, in an office based setting at a desk with a computer and dual monitors. Circumstances may require working outside of normal business hours (i.e. 8:
00am to 5:
00pm) in order to support international and east coast colleagues during their business hours.
Travel will be required for National Sales meetings twice a year, industry meetings multiple times during the year for market research collection, convention organization and competitive intel gathering.
Multiple field rides will be required for medical case observations within hospitals, operating rooms and or endoscopy suites, where the possibility of seeing blood is absolute.
